Materials: ww cotton, size I/9 Hook

ch 28,

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (27 sc)

Row 2: ch 3, (counts as first dc) turn, {NOTE: this round is worked in front loop only by working down through the center of loops at top, and out under the front loop...see pic at bottom of page.) dc in each st across.

Row 3: ch 1, turn (Work this round in back loops only) sc in each st across.

Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc in same st, ch 2, sk next 2 st, sc in next st, ( ch 3, sk next 3 sts, sc in next st) 5 times, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, sc in last st. (8 sc, 2 ch-2 sps, and 5 ch-3 sps)

Row 5: ch 1, turn, sc in same st, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next st, (3 sc in ch-3 sp, sc in st) 5 times, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in last st. (27 sc)

Rows 6 - 17: rep rows 2-5 consecutively.

Rows 18 & 19: rep rows 2 and 3.

Border :

Round 1: ch 1, do NOT turn, *working in ends of rows, work 1 sc in each sc row and 2 sc in each dc row to end. Working in unused loops of beg ch, work 3 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, work 3 sc in last st. rep from * once more, join with sl st in first st.

Round 2: ch 3, turn, working same as for row 2, dc in each st around, working 3 dc in center sc of each corner 3-sc. Join with sl st in third ch of beg ch-3.

Round 3: ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st around, working 3 sc in center dc of each corner 3-dc. Join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.
