Knitted Threads7" square [7 1/2" square use one
hook size larger]
This square is made up of hdc and post stitches giving a basket weave
appearance.
Materials: Worsted Weight yarn Size G crochet hook
[size H crochet hook]
Gauge: 4 hdc = 1" with G hook
3.75 hdc = 1" with H hook
Notes : Work all hdc stitches in the back loop only [bl]
on right side rows, and in the front loop only [fl] on wrong side rows.
Work all back post double crochet [BPDC] and front post double crochet [FPDC]
stitches around the post of the stitch in the previous row. |
Row 1: Ch 26, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, [counts as 2 hdc] hdc
in back loop of next 2 chs, [dc in next 4 sts, hdc in bl of next 4 chs]
twice, dc in last 4 sts. Turn. 24 sts (right side of work)
Row 2: Ch 3, [counts as first dc now and through out] BPDC around the
post of next 3 dc sts. of prev. row, [hdc in fl of next 4 sts., BPDC around
the post of next 4 dc from prev. row] twice, hdc in fl of last 4 sts.
Turn. (wrong side of work)
Row 3: Ch 2, [counts as first hdc now and throught out] hdc in bl of
next 3 sts, [FPDC around post of next 4 sts, hdc in bl of next 4 sts] twice,
FPDC on last 4 sts. Work last FPDC around post of last st
from prev. row Turn.
Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in fl of next 3 sts, [BPDC on next 4 sts, hdc in fl
of next 4 sts] twice, BPDC on last 4 sts. Work last BPDC around
post of last st from prev. row. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, FPDC on next 3 sts, [hdc in bl of next 4 sts, FPDC on
next 4 sts] twice, hdc in fl of last 4 sts. Turn.
Row 6: Ch 2, hdc in fl of next 3 sts, [BPDC on next 4 sts, hdc in fl
of next 4 sts] twice, BPDC on last 4 sts. Work last BPDC
around post of last st form prev. row. Turn.
Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in bl of next 3 sts, [FPDC on next 4 sts, hdc in bl
of next of next 4 sts] twice, FPDC on last 4 sts.
Work last FPDC around post of last st from prev. row Turn.
Row 8: Ch 3, BPDC on next 3 sts, [hdc in fl of next 4 sts, BPDC on
next 4 sts] twice, hdc in fl of last 4 sts. Turn.
Repeat Rows 3 through 8 until piece measures 7" [7 1/2"]. ending with row
3 or 6.
To edge your square, work sc sts around the square, working 23 [25] sc
sts across each side, top and bottom with 3 sc sts in each corner.
Slip st into the first sc, fasten off.
Abbreviations for pattern stitches used:
BPDC Back Post Double Crochet: YO,
insert hook from the back to the front of work, around the post of the
stitch,then to the back of your work. YO pull up loop, YO pull through 2
loops on hook, YO pull through 2 loops on hook.
FPDC Front Post Double Crochet: YO,
insert hook from the front to the back of work, around the post of the
stitch, then to the front of your work. YO pull up loop, YO pull through 2
loops on hook, YO pull through 2 loops on hook.
HDC Half Doubl Crochet: YO
insert hook into next stitch, YO draw through all 3 loops on hook
BL Back loop:
work stitch in the back loop
FL Front loop:
work stitch in the front loop
